Dr. Julius Sunday Afolabi, 61, of Savannah, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Candler Hospital.
He was born in Odo-ere, Nigeria, and was a Professor at Savannah State University. He was a member of the Harvest Church of the Nazarene, where he was very active.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Oke Afolabi, his mother, Ige Aro Afolabi, 2 sons, Dele Afolabi, and Segun Afolabi; 2 daughters, Wuraola “Buki” Bukola Afolabi and Tope Afolabi; 3 brothers, Dr. Femi Afolabi, Jimoh Afolabi, and Sola Afolabi; 2 sisters, Funmi Afolabi, and Dupe Afolabi, and 1 grandchild, Zion Deleya Afolabi.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harvest Church of the Nazarene, with Rev.Thomas Rash, officiating. Interment will be in Odo-Ere, Nigeria. Dr. Afolabi will be taken to the church to lie in state at 9 a.m. Thursday.
